Hurricane, storm, rain on the route

Vladimir and Maya Opara: from Moscow to The Hague 2500 km. We have been traveling to Europe with our own car for many years during winters and summers. So, it is a familiar journey for us. We left Moscow on July 13, 7:00 am. In the car, there are paintings and parts for the installation for the personal exhibition of Vladimir "Motion Landscape". In Belarus, we were caught in a storm with string winds and heavy rain. Tons of water descended on the land. Many cars stopped near roadsides and under bridges and turned on emergency lights. It wasn’t the first time we got into storms and hurricanes during our travel through Belgium, Poland and Belarus. We continued our movement. Another thing that influences out decision not to stop was the fast that there was a video recording happening for our video installation. We successfully went through a hurricane. The full realization of how lucky we were came to us after we saw the consequences of the hurricane. For tens of kilometers along the road the trees were broken in half, as if someone scythed through the woods and fields, leaving scattered pieces of iron road. The storm ripped off roofs of the houses, huge branches of the trees on the roadside and the road. Those were sections of the road, where the storm took place. By the evening it reached Moscow. At seven in the evening we arrived at the border of Belarus and Poland. We passed the border under 30 minutes! Belarusian and Polish border guards were very friendly. We have been there many times, but we experienced such a fast service for the first time. At the border there were no queues. Poland closed its border for the business border trips, and now the border can be crossed only by the holders of Schengen visas. This time we stop for the night in Poland on the outskirts of Bialystok, the hotel's estate Dwór Czarneckiego. It was a lovely hotel. We had a big discount for regular travelers. Heavy rain, almost a downpour, accompanied us on the roads of Poland and Germany as well as on the second day of the journey July 14th. On the July 15 we entered Netherlands. The futuristic country met us with sunny weather. In The Hague at the DCR studio, we met with our friends.

Владимир и Майя Опара: из Москвы в Гаагу 2500 км. Мы путешествуем по Европе на своей машине много лет – зимой и летом. Так, что для нас это обычное путешествие. Мы стартовали из Москвы 13 июля в 7:00 утра. В машине картины и детали инсталляции к персональной выставке Владимира "Motion Landscape". В Белоруссии попали в грозу с ураганным ветром и ливнем. Тонны воды обрушились на землю. Многие машины остановились у обочины и под мостами, включив аварийки. Мы не раз попадали в грозы и ураганы во время наших авто путешествий в Бельгии, Польше, Белоруссии. И мы продолжали наше движение, включив противотуманки. Не останавливаться решили ещё и потому, что шла видеозапись для видеоинсталляции. Мы благополучно прошли сквозь ураган. Как нам повезло, мы смогли оценить только тогда, когда увидели последствия урагана. На протяжении десятков километров вдоль дороги сломанные пополам деревья, будто, кто-то провел огромной косой по лесу, разбросанные по полям и дороге куски железа, сорванных ураганом с крыш домов, огромные ветки деревьев на обочине и дороге. Это был участок дороги, где прошел смерч. Это был тот ураган, который уже к вечеру долетел до Москвы. К семи часам вечера подъехали к границе Белоруссии и Польши. Границу прошли за 30 минут! Доброжелательные белорусские и польские пограничники. Ездили много раз, но такое видели впервые. На границе не было очередей. Польша закрыла границу для приграничных поездок по справкам (приграничный бизнес), пресекать границу могли только обладатели виз Шенгена. В этот раз мы остановились ночевать в Польше на выезде из Белостока в отеле-усадьбе Dwór Czarneckiego. Прекрасный отель. Для нас была большая скидка постоянных путешественников. Сильный дождь, переходящий в ливень сопровождал нас на дорогах Польши и Германии и на второй день пути 14 июля. 15 июля въехали в Голландию. Футуристическая страна встретила нас солнечной погодой. В Гааге, у DCR студии нас встретили наши друзья.
